The United States is in no position to win (that is, to have Ukraine win) the conflict in Ukraine—for an explanation of why this is so, listen to any of the many interviews with Col. Douglas MacGregor on this topic. US may continue to pour weapons in at the expense of resources it’s people deserve and to the benefit of the oligarchs who control the military industries—but it cannot win. It can however stop the killing and work for peace. should it want to. At this point, Russia will determine the fate of Ukraine. If the US admits to that fact, the best course would be for it to urge (or order) Ukraine leadership to surrender. That is the only way for the nation of Ukraine to survive. If Ukraine does not surrender, it leaves its own fate to Russia. Russia is determined to achieve its stated objective: the destruction of Ukraine’s military and de-nazification of its leadership. It remains to be seen how they will accomplish the latter—but the first part is well on its way. This US plan to hurt Russia through initiating a proxy war was, from the very beginning, an ill-conceived and aggressive move advocated by the neocons in the US State Department with the full backing of US war industries. The coup that resulted in replacing the legitimately elected Ukrainian president with a pro-Nazi administration set the stage for the 8 year civil war which invited Russia’s intervention. The US precipitated the events that has become the war in Ukraine—and the US can put a stop to it.
